Welcome to Body KnowlEDGE

Hello friends,

Welcome to Body KnowlEDGE. While I do not know how you happened to stumble upon my blog, I hope I am able to equip you with the knowledge to achieve your goals and begin a healthier lifestyle.

This blog is all about putting the science which can help you achieve the best from your training into simple terms which you can apply to your lifestyle.

Health science is far from black and white  and while the science offers us a lot of valuable information, there are areas of conflict as well as new information frequently being brought to light. So please contribute your thoughts, I encourage you to ask questions and to challenge anything I post in here.

I started this blog because I believe while there is plenty of great information online on health, strength and fitness, there is misinformation and areas which could use further discussion.

I have over six years of formal and informal education in the fields of Exercise Science, coaching, fitness, nutrition and personal training. I am student Exercise Scientist, a Master Trainer and a community coach.

I first began journey towards developing a healthy lifestly as an obese 18-year-old, I was 159 cm (around 5’2) and 96kg (211 lbs), I had a long way to go and minimal knowledge on where to start. So I read as much as I could and started off with just some simple changes based around the basic principles of being more active and eating less.  Within twelve months I had lost over 25 kilos (over 55 lbs). The most important thing which had changed was I started to value physical activity and healthy eating.

Eventually I hit a plateau, my knowledge was nowhere near at the level it is now, I had not adapted my training as I got fitter and stronger, my diet still needed work and I had lost a bit of motivation. So after gaining back a few of the kilos I started becoming more focused in my training and tried to really understand proper nutrition. I learned to how to read nutrition labels, and training became a huge part of my life as did eating clean.  Within six months I was 60kg- the lightest I had been since I was 10-years-old. When I began a new job later that year I was known as the health nut, or the workout guru and it felt great.

Now at 24, I’m a qualified personal trainer and on my way to becoming a qualified Exercise Scientist. The reason I underwent those studies and the reason I started this blog was not only because I am passionate about health and fitness. I started this blog because I believe anybody’s life can be enriched by proper nutrition and exercise, I want to help people realise that and be equipped with as much knowledge possible to pass on to them.

Yours in Health

Sanna
